The FRM220-10/100AS-2 is a dual channel 10/100BaseTX to 100BaseFX media converter. Offering 2 converters in a single package the unit is perfect in high density environments. The FRM220-10/100AS-2 is fully compliant with IEEE802.3ah OAM (Operations, Administration and Maintenance or Ethernet in the first mile) and is ideal for deployments that require a high degree of diagnostic capability. The OAM functions enable a remote FRM220-10/100AS-2 to be configured and managed from a central location in-band across the fibre link. OAM functionality can greatly reduce maintenance costs by diagnosing problems centrally and negating the need for engineers to attend remote locations.

Both optical interfaces are presented as SFP cages enabling the use of standard SFP's to connect to both multi and singlemode fibre. The FRM220-10/100AS-2 can be configured not just as 2 converters but also as a 4 port switch with, if desired, 1 fibre port acting as a backup for the other. With the addition of RSTP (Redundant Spanning Tree Protocol) multiple layer 2 redundant paths can be established and fibre rings can be created with a redundant back up path. The FRM220-10/100AS-2 can also prioritise data on a per port basis ensuring timely delivery of voice / video and other mission critical traffic.
